Primary Spelling Bee 2026

A Sweet Reward for Weeks of Practice

There was a hive of excitement at assembly as students gathered for our annual Spelling Bee Final Assembly on Tuesday, 9 June.

After weeks of learning, practising and competing through classroom rounds, the top four spellers from each year level earned their place in the final. Standing in front of their peers is no small feat, and our finalists should be incredibly proud of the confidence and courage they displayed on stage.

The journey began in classrooms, where students learned words carefully selected to support their spelling development and high-frequency word knowledge. As the competition progressed through increasingly challenging rounds, students were encouraged to stretch themselves, persevere and embrace the challenge.

By the time the finalists took to the stage, the atmosphere was filled with excitement. With just one minute on the clock, students worked their way through a series of difficult words, demonstrating impressive focus and determination while the audience cheered them on.

Adding to the fun was a special visit from Bernie the Bee, whose appearance brought plenty of smiles and laughter to the assembly.

While the finalists deservedly received recognition for their achievements, one of the most encouraging aspects of the Spelling Bee was seeing so many students willing to challenge themselves along the way. Every participant, whether they reached the final or not, had the opportunity to learn new words, develop confidence and discover that growth often comes through persistence and practice.

A heartfelt thank you to our families for the support and encouragement you provided at home. The time spent practising words, celebrating successes and encouraging perseverance played an important role in helping students prepare for the competition.

Congratulations to all of our Spelling Bee participants and finalists. We are so proud of the way you embraced the challenge and gave it your very best.
